DW issues

When I backed up my LJ, DW unfortunately tried to import my entire LJ friendslist (which is good, in some ways -- but most of those people don't have DW accounts), and that's why I'm running into the "can't have more than 1000 accounts in your circles" error that prevents me from adding anyone new.

(Also, TBH, I'd be leery of switching to a service that tops out the number of friends you can add, bc I do have quite a few people on my LJ, and am happy to keep it that way -- some stuff just gets filtered a little more tightly, if necessary.)

Ugh, it's going to be *fun* trying to figure out which of those 982 "DW friends" listed actually even have DW accounts under the same name!

So, I'm about to do a mass unfriending and then start adding people back -- I've taken a screenshot of my few friends who I'd already added as DW accounts, so if you see yourself removed and re-added, that's why.

You piqued my interest, so I went huntin - looks like max circle population is a tiered-by-payment thing, 1000 for free accounts, 1500 and 2000 for paid accounts, which is why I've never hit that warning (that, and you're clearly more sociable than I am!)

I hope untangling things isn't too painful!

Ah, thank you! That makes sense . . . and, TBH, I have a lot of inactive LJ accounts on my FL, or multiple accounts from people who changed journals, because I don't purge anyone from my FL unless someone is Actually No Longer My Friend in a major way (i.e., my recent ex.)

I've been on LJ since 2001 and have added people from lots of different communities/social circles -- I can't keep track of 900+ LJ friends, but I at least have my closest friends who post regularly "tagged," so that I get a notification when they post :)

(Wonder if that service exists on DW? Will have to check, when I'm done unticking all the checkboxes on this list of LJ friends it imported . . .)

I think the feature you're looking for is called "Track Account" on DW - on the right hand side of a user's profile.
